Remember the relaxed pleasure and excitement of your childhood summer camp? Imagine that pure joy combined with the laidback luxury and elegant amenities of a five-star mountain resort. This is Slippery Rock Ranch— an exceptional Rocky Mountain retreat nestled on the shores of the Dolores River. Slippery Rock Ranch is for the discerning Colorado traveler seeking complete peace, true tranquility, and a memorable escape from the norm. With a main lodge, three separate sleeping cabins, glamping tents, and a yoga studio, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into your own private world— yet you’re only about 45 minutes away from Telluride.

A Private Rocky Mountain Camping Compound

Surrounded by sun-dappled evergreens and the burbling of the mountain stream nearby, the main lodge is a perfect blend of modern and rustic design. The living and dining confluence areas are bright and open and feature collapsible glass doors and exposed white-washed log walls. The main goal of the design was to foster a feeling of effortless indoor/outdoor living. There are plenty of seating options for lounging or dining, plus an outdoor fireplace and barbeque for roasting s’mores and telling scary stories.

In the kitchen, stylish navy blue cabinets are topped with gleaming marble workspaces. There are two side-by-side SubZero refrigerators and freezers with chic panel fronts, two dishwashers, two wall-mounted ovens, a Wolf gas range top, a deep under-mount sink with a gooseneck faucet, and a large prep island. Next to the kitchen is a long dining table with seating for ten. Up the staircase is a comfy game room with a modern fireplace and plush carpet.

Three Bright Bunkhouses

Slippery Rock Ranch has tons of luxe, flexible sleeping space. Whether you want to sleep indoors— or take the more adventurous “glamping” route— there’s something for everyone here. Bunkhouse number one has a queen-size bed set into a vintage-inspired bedframe, a fireplace, and an attached full bathroom. Bunkhouse number two has a queen-size bed piled high with plush pilllows, a fireplace, and an ensuite bathroom.

The third bunkhouse— called Refuge— has a downstairs space with cozy seating that includes a queen-size pull-out bed and a twin-size pull-out bed. The full bathroom features two showers, two sinks, and two toilets. Up the spiral staircase are three more beds— two twins and a queen-size that’s separated from the twins by a privacy wall. Refuge also boasts one of the best seats in the house— a suspended daybed swing with views of the serene pond and river.

An Enchanting Yoga Cabin and Glamping Tents

Follow the winding path to the charming yoga studio— a 100-year-old, mini log cabin with a picturesque front porch. The yoga studio is fully equipped with everything you need to get a good sweat on— including a stationary bike, pull up bar, and weights.

A little further away, two glamping tents each have comfy full-size beds, front porches, electricity, and easy access to the glamping full bathroom. A large barn has a two-car garage and an efficiency apartment upstairs. The apartment includes a kitchenette with a two-burner stove and a small refrigerator. There’s also a queen-size bed and a seating area.

Seventh Heaven at Slippery Rock Ranch

Slippery Rock Ranch was built to blend seamlessly with the serene surroundings while providing endless luxury and elegance to all who visit. You’ll be surrounded by 40 acres of pristine forest and have the beauty and premier fly-fishing of the shimmering Dolores River right outside your door— or tent flap, if you choose. Plus there’s endless access to world-class Rocky Mountain hiking and mountain biking trails.

And when you feel like staying close to camp and relaxing— simply light a fire, pour a glass of wine, play some horseshoes, read a book. Or just sit back and listen to the peaceful sounds of the forest. Slippery Rock Ranch is the luxurious, adult summer camp of your dreams.

"The sound of the river lulled us all to sleep"

5 of 5

This was a perfect summer getaway for our family. The sound of the river lulled us all to sleep at night and provided plenty of fishing opportunities during the day.
