These are just four of Gstaad’s best restaurants that are fully dedicated to a true fine dining experience.

2. The Chesery

The Swiss are widely known for their incredible cheese-making skills, and this popular chalet-style restaurant sits right in the very heart of Gstaad where the town cheese dairy was once situated. Robert and Susanne Speth have been offering fine dining here since 1984, and Chef Robert’s amazing cuisine is known far and wide. Freshness is of the utmost importance to this Michelin-star chef, so the bread is baked twice a day, the meats are sourced directly from local farmers and fruits and vegetables are always seasonal.

Favorite menu items include free-range chicken breast, homemade fresh cheese ravioli, roasted duck, several delicious vegetarian plates and decadent desserts such as the double-cream macarons and the dark chocolate cake that are worth every last calorie. Magnificent wines directly from the wine cellar are perfectly paired with every dish, and guests may also choose from an excellent selection of spirits. You’ll definitely want to make an advance reservation for lunch or dinner at this busy restaurant.

3. La Bagatelle

Considered one of Gstaads’s top restaurants for many years, La Bagatelle is home to the dedicated Chef Steve Willie, who is known for his attention to flavors, freshness and unique presentations of each amazing dish. Winter guests are sure to enjoy dining next to the huge fireplace as the snow falls outside the windows, and you’ll discover a beautiful outdoor terrace for dining during the warmer months and even on sunny days during the winter. Exceptional views from this restaurant include the Pays-d’Enhaut, the Wildhorn and the Glacier 3000.

Whenever you decide to visit, you may choose from a menu that offers gourmet meals consisting of three, four or five incredible courses, and popular dishes include homemade ravioli with fresh spinach and ricotta cheese, veal chops, braised monk fish, Swiss beef filet, saddle of lamb, several exquisite vegetarian dishes and many fabulous dessert options. Wine enthusiasts are also in for a wonderful experience thanks to this restaurant’s famous wine cellar that holds some 900 different fine wines from around the world.

4. Megu

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t get a good Japanese meal in Switzerland because you’ll find an epic culinary experience at Megu. Chef Takumi Murase brings his country’s most unusual ingredients and flavors together for exotic dishes that you may find nowhere else in the Swiss Alps, and you’ll get a show just watching his incredible knife skills as he prepares fresh sushi and sashimi. Be sure to try some of the many different and rare sakes available during your visit, and there’s a seven-course tasting menu that will allow you to sample all of the best dishes. Those who aren’t quite up to that huge meal may choose from a large selection of individual entrees and meals, which include beef and fish dishes as well as numerous vegetarian and vegan options and sweet desserts.
