Conveniently located just 6 miles from the Marrakesh Medina, this popular course offers challenging play for golfers of all skill levels. Designed by professional golfer, Niall Cameron, the entire course was built to be 100% eco-friendly with many of the existing trees left to grow and an emphasis placed on the minimization of water consumption.
New or out-of-practice golfers may benefit from time spent at the onsite practice facilities, and you may make full use of the practice putting green, driving range and chipping area. While formal lessons aren’t offered, arrangements may be made for a golf professional to meet you for a personal lesson.
During your visit, you’re welcome to visit the clubhouse. You may like to enjoy a refreshing drink while taking in views of the course and the mountains, and this is also where you’ll find the locker rooms, showers and the pro shop for all of your golf merchandise needs. The exclusive La Colline Restaurant is also located in the clubhouse, and French Chef Damien Durand is onsite daily to create fresh, delicious meals that range from signature salads to gourmet main dishes. 2. Marrakesh Royal Golf Club
Opened in 1927, this superb golf course is aptly named as it once served as the favorite of the late King Hassan II, and it’s the second oldest golf course in the entire kingdom of Morocco. In addition to local royalty, this course has been frequented by both Hollywood’s elite and foreign heroes over the years, and these include former American President Dwight Eisenhower and former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Visitors may choose from the old course that features 18-hole play, the newer 9-hole course or both. Regardless, you’ll enjoy an exceptional game of golf in a huge area covered in lush vegetation and surrounded by some 15,000 trees. Lessons are available at the onsite golf school, and four levels of classes are available that include initiation, beginner, improvement and elite. Other amenities include a pro shop, a practice area with a putting green and a pitching green, cart rentals, club rentals and locker rooms with showers.
Visitors are welcome to stop by the clubhouse restaurant for a drink, a snack or a full meal. It opens each day at 9 a.m. for breakfast and stays open for lunch, but dinner requires a reservation. Favorites include the huge salad buffet, grilled fish, beef skewers and some amazing homemade desserts.
3. Palm Golf
Easily accessible on the Ourika road on the south side of Marrakesh, this gorgeous golf course offers daily play on a beautiful 18-hole, 72-par course that is surrounded by palm and olive trees and backed by the Atlas Mountains. Visitors may make use of the practice facilities, a pro shop and the clubhouse restaurant and bar that offers fine dining both inside and on the outdoor terrace. This is a golf-cart-only course, and top-of-the-line rentals are available.
4. Samanah Golf Club
Open every day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., this incredible Jack Nicklaus signature golf course offers some of the best views of the Atlas Mountains in the entire kingdom of Morocco. The intricate design of this 18-hole, par-72 course is set up to test the intelligence and tactical skills of each golfer, so you can count on a golfing experience like none other.
However, that doesn’t mean you have to be an expert to enjoy a day of golfing, and there’s a large practice area available with a 9-hole pitch and putt. Visitors are also welcome to spend some time in the air-conditioned clubhouse, which boasts a pro shop, full-service changing rooms, a bridge lounge, a TV lounge, a full bar and a restaurant that boasts a wonderful selection of delicious dishes.
