One of the great things about visiting stunning Punta Mita, Mexico, is its close proximity to other nearby, amazing locations. It’s like getting two vacations for the price of one when you can play all day and all night in Punta Mita and still have the chance to visit the neighboring cities. You’ll definitely want to take a day during your Punta Mita vacation to run over to nearby Puerto Vallarta.
Day Trip Possibilities in Puerto Vallarta
You will find the lovely beach-resort city of Puerto Vallarta just a short 10 miles from Punta Mita. It’s definitely worth the quick trip for a day visit, and these are just a few of the many things that you’ll want to be sure to see while you’re there.

Your path will take you alongside the very best restaurants and bars, and you’ll see some amazing sculptures that are made from bronze and stone. You may also expect to encounter a variety of street vendors, seaside artists that may offer to sketch your portrait and all kinds of interesting street performers. When nights falls, the area evolves into more of a party atmosphere with plenty of musical entertainment.
2. Vallarta Botanical Gardens
This may be the most beautiful spot in the entire city, and you can expect to enjoy many miles of hiking trails that run through gorgeous, manicured gardens and the native forest. One path will take you right down to the tropical river that is known as the Rio Horcones, and visitors are welcome to take a swim. The entire 20 acres is filled with a wonderful selection of plants and animals, and native birds can be found in abundance.
3. Los Arcos Marine Park
Nestled between Mismaloya Beach and Las Gemelas Beach, you’ll find this protected park that is perfect for a day of snorkeling or scuba diving. Great features include deep tunnels, caves and an incredible reef that is teeming with marine life. You can expect to swim among colorful tropical fish, sea turtles and dolphins. When you’re done exploring the deep, check out the granite islands that are home to several species of birds that include pelicans, parrots and various other birds.
