One of these is an incredibly popular gastronomical event that has been around since 1995, and this year’s Festival Gourmet International is set for Nov. 16-22.
Delicious Beginnings
Two decades ago, this festival was created to allow the most highly qualified chefs to showcase their methods and creativity at competitive international levels. The very first festival saw the participation of six hotels and six independent restaurants, and it has grown this year with the participation of 22 first-class hotels and restaurants.

Progressive Avant-Garde Dinner:
This event begins on Monday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. Participants will begin their gourmet journey at the Sapphire Ocean Club before moving on to Coco Tropical, Kaiser Maximilian and Cafe des Artistes. You’ll enjoy a progressive dinner experience that reveals some wonderful culinary secrets from four different guest chefs. The tour includes transportation from Kaiser Maximilian to Cafe des Artistes.
Wine Pairing and Luncheon Workshop:
Eight Hands-Four Chefs is hosting a full day of cooking wonders on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will be treated to an extraordinary cooking demonstration by chefs who are considered to be among the great artists of the culinary scene. Following the demonstration, you’ll enjoy a delicious luncheon with the chefs.
Tequila Cheese and Calypso Celebration:
A festive afternoon awaits you on Wednesday, Nov. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. Come enjoy a professional tasting of the world’s best Tequilas, an artisan-cheese buffet and some wonderful Calypso music.
Gourmet Village:
This night has been set aside for a huge celebration of the festival, and all of the cooks, hosts and personalities of the gourmet scene will come together for the party. This event is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.
Kitchen Fiesta and Tequila Patron Fascination:
Indulge in a wonderful experience with the chefs of the four Velas hotels in an amazing trip around the stoves. Set for Friday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m., you may expect to enjoy the very best Tequila cocktails, excellent live music, a decadent buffet of desserts and even a chance to dance with the chefs.
Ole! Paella, Ham and Wine:
A Mediterranean atmosphere right on the gorgeous oceanfront sets the stage for this tasty event scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. Excellent chefs will prepare a rich variety of paellas while you watch, and you can also expect to enjoy ham, decadent desserts and a nice selection of sangrias and Spanish boutique wines. Wonderful live musical performances will enhance your dining experience.
Fiesta By the Sea: Banderas Bay Seafood Brunch:
The festival wraps up with a delightful seafood brunch on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. You’ll enjoy your meal from your seat in a gorgeous private villa that overlooks the bay. Expert chefs will serve spectacular seafood dishes with craft beer, wines and cocktails while live music plays in the background.
