This village will be your first stop in the morning, and there are several cafes that serve a traditional Catalan breakfast.
Vic
You’ll stop at this village for an authentic Catalan lunch, and there will be ample opportunity to explore the narrow streets and the huge market square, which has held the weekly market for many centuries. Signs of Vic’s ancient origins are everywhere, and visitors may expect to see a Roman temple, the church of La Pietat, the Palau Episcopal and the convent of Sant Domenech.
Sant Joan de les Abadesses
This spot actually dates all the way back to prehistoric times, and the village formed when Wilfred the Hairy founded the Monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses in 887. This was Catalonia’s first nunnery, but it was shut down by Pope Benedict VIII in 1017 because the nuns were behaving badly. It’s open today as a place of worship, and you can take some time to see it during your visit.
