FISHING: The tip of Punta de Mita peninsula sits at the north end of Banderas Bay. Trophy Fish are found on the outside of Banderas Bay. Inside the bay you will find Dorado, Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, Snapper, Grouper, Roosterfish, Mackerel, Amberjack, and several other varieties. Pangas are available for half day trips and full day trips. Some of the best fly fishing for Dorado exists in these waters. The locals have established anchored habitat about 3 miles offshore. It’s the perfect “stop” for dorado on their migration. It provides countless hours of entertainment. Pop a streamer or popper out there as the captain baits the water with sardinas and you’ll be in for the ride of your life! There is also deep sea fishing and spear fishing. For people who don’t want to go out on a boat; surf fishing and fly fishing are viable alternatives here too—cast your line from the beach and see what you can catch.
