This weekend, the tiny surf town of Sayulita hosts the 2nd Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Classic. Longboard surfers and SUP contestants from Mexico, California, Hawaii to defend and challenge last year’s title holders. This is an exciting event for this area of Nayarit and is fast becoming a much anticipated, well recognized international surfing event. The town of Sayulita is just north of the Punta Mita peninsula, about a twenty minute drive from our Exceptional Stays luxury rentals in Punta Mita. The town offers something completely different to the gated communities to the south. There is definitely more of a local, Mexican feel to the town. It is a place where Mexicans mix with travelers and tourists in a very laid back beach atmosphere. This vibrant, authentic coastal town has a world renowned longboard surf break, and is a fantastic day trip from Punta Mita.
